On Friday, Labour councillor for Quinton visited the host venue of the Opening Ceremony for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games in Perry Barr. Kate said “I visited the Alexander Stadium in Perry to see how construction is going, ahead of Birmingham 2022 and to hear about how the Games are going to unlock Birmingham’s full potential”
She further added “I’m so excited about the opportunities that the Games are giving our region to showcase our talent, particularly for young people. I will be fighting to make sure that Quinton benefits from the legacy of the games with more sports and cultural activities available in our area.”
Birmingham 2022 is set to begin on 28th July, next year, bringing nations from across the Commonwealth for two weeks of sporting action. There will also be a six month festival of cultural activities to celebrate Birmingham‘s creativity and shine a global spotlight on the West Midlands.
